One Down & Forever To Go :)

It's hard to believe that Jake and I have been married for over a year now. Over the course of this past year I have taken hundreds of photos of our daily life together and in the years to come I will continue to do the same. I wanted to build a little album of some sort to place the photos along with little cards & notes we have exchanged at the end of each year of marriage.
So here is what I came up with:

It was quite simple! All you need is an old book, some photos corners (I found them on ebay for pretty cheap), a piece of ribbon, and a nice collection of photographs & cards!

I'll end this little post with a couple snapshots from today...

Go Skate Day 2012

Happy Wednesday my little nutty squirrels! For those of you who don't know, I work at two different places during the week and one of them is for a local screen printing shop called Commonwealth Press. It is owned by Dan Rugh (pronounced Rue..as in Rue McClanahan, as in Blanche Devereaux, as in if you don't know who I am talking about there is no repairing this newly damaged relationship), and his radtastic wife Shannon. Check out the website if you are in need of some custom merch! We ship wherever so...

Anyway, last Thursday CWP, along with a bunch of other local vendors, sponsored Go Skate Day put on by Vitamin Water! I got to work it with Dan Rock and we had a nice sweaty, Vitamin Water chugging, skateboarder oogling (me), day. A contest for kids under 18 was held and the winner got a trip to Camp Woodward which is a spectacular action sports/cheerleading/gymnastics/etc. camp. They also have their own show on a station I can't recall right now, but I have watched it because I secretly like to live out my 10-12 skateboard obsessed years. Kareem Campbell, if you're out there, I still love you and the Ghetto Bird for reasons still unknown.

It was nice to see some of my friends attend and hang out with them and watch them skate around. There was also a few music acts to help fill the air with some noise. Killer of Sheep played first and I enjoy them thoroughly. The guitarist is my favorite human on Earth so that has everything a lot do with it. After KOS played, hip hop duo TimeCapsoul performed, followed by Dj Hank D, The 58's and closing out the day was Beedie. To be honest, I had no idea who any of them were, and still really don't. I bobbed my head and tapped my feet under our tent though.

Bouch and his silly hat took some photos he was nice enough to share with me! Ch-ch-check it out!

One Up Pgh skate team
This little smudge won the trip to camp!

What a great day and a great reason to get outside. Go Skate Day is all over the globe so find one near you!

Instagram Life - Melisa

I have been super busy working on my little
business stuff. It's a lot of work, but it feels good
to be working towards something that I love.

Here are some clips of life as of late via Instagram.

Work.

Watching "Breaking Bad" with the husband and dog.
(We often curl Bruce's lips up so it looks like he is smiling,
it cracks me up every time)

I wore shorts with no tights!
Only because I got tattooed, but still, these legs saw sunlight!

Sewed until it hurt so bad I had to put band-aids on my
fingers so I could finish my projects with less pain.

Shared the inside of my closet with the world.
Sigh...

Packaged and shipped lots of orders.

Showed my support of Murray and Schwartzman and saw
"Moonrise Kingdom", which was lovely.

Finally painted my nails.
I only paint them red.

Oh, and of course, here is what Cash did all week...

You can follow me on Instagram : ohmelisa

I would love to follow you too!

Who else saw "Moonrise Kingdom"?

A New Kitchen.

At the beginning of the month Jake and I moved from our apartment in South Side to a quiet little place in the East End. We have been in the process of settling for a bit but everything seems to have found its place & it is feeling more like home every day. I figured I would give a little "home tour" and I'll start with the kitchen, which is in the back of the apartment. It is much smaller than the kitchen in our old apartment but I like it. It feels cozy.

The window sill above our sink. The little bird/strawberry trinket
is from my friend Jordan B. & just may be my favorite trinket yet.

Jake and I have been making all kinds of jam this summer.

Under one of the cabinets is a cute little shelf.
Perfect for my cook book collection.

My favorite item in the kitchen!

Cutest little gift from Melisa <3

Because the apartment has such high ceilings
Jake had to build be a little step stool...

Oh! and did I mention we have a sweet new roommate!

I am really excited to be in a neighborhood that actually feels like one!
Have a great weekend!
