DIY Doubled Sided Rick Rack Napkins.

I've been slowly teaching myself how to sew by starting out with very simple projects. I recently started to make my own cloth napkins & I wanted to share one of the patterns that I used.
They are super cute & easy.

For this napkin you will need:
Two 18x18 inch pieces of fabric
Rick rack
Pins
Sewing machine

To start you place the two pieces of fabric with the right sides facing each other, then pin the corners to make sure that they are lined up.

Next, you will want to lay your rick rack just along the edge of your fabric and pin all the way around. Leave about about a two inch opening, so you can turn the napkin right side out when you are finished sewing.
The next step is to sew all the way around, turn right side out, & stitch up the opening.

That's it! Simple and fun. I'm sure they would make great Christmas gifts as well!
Enjoy.

Stick Around Indian Summer.

The past few days have been beautiful here in Pittsburgh! It feels like the perfect summer day. I love it. I had the day off today so I tried to make the most of it. I'm finally finished with the madness of wedding season & have been in great need of a day like today.

DIY Lemon Salt Scrub.

I recently found this neat little recipe for a simple skin exfoliant that can be made from three basic kitchen ingredients.
All you need is:
5 tablespoons of sea salt.
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 lemon.

All three ingredients are known to be good for the skin in one way or another.
Olive oil is a common folk remedy for dry skin & may also protect your skin against sun damage.
Sea salt is a natural detoxifier for the skin & lemon juice has been said to help reduce the appearance of scars and treat acne among others.
So this little mixture is pretty much a win. Give it a try & let me know how ya like it!

Photographs from July.

Here is a little view of last month. Enjoy.

Also I wanted to share this little feature that Jackie Farrow did on my portrait work:

Oh and I almost forgot...

We saw refused play a small club in Brooklyn last month...
it was hands down the best live show I have ever seen. I only wish I had my camera with me.

How was your July?
